For your entertainment, we are happy to present:

The Apple Product Cycle

An original work of fiction that's a little too close to fact for comfort.

Brilliant

Excellent... sadly true. ;-) As an Apple apologist myself, I am often embarrassed by many so called Mac fans. Oh, well it's better than the alternative.

Absolutely beautiful!

As a forum administrator on MacNN, I am constantly trying to bring sanity to the threads about new Apple gear. It seldom works...

Oh the funny.

Congratulations. Ain't this the truth, though.

I'll echo the praise you've received above Dan. Well written and right on the money. Thanks for the laugh.

Excellent piece, though I have to disagree with one element of it: when Apple announces good financial news or a new product, their stock price almost always immediately goes *down*. iMac? Down. iPod? Down. Cure for cancer? That'd probably drop the price, too. I don't understand it, but it's pretty consistent.

That doesn't take anything away from how funny I (and, apparently, jillions of others) find this to be--the longer you've been an Apple fan, the more you recognize it as absolutely spot-on.

Wow! Great bit of writing. This is oh so accurate. I must admit I have been cought up in this process more than a few times :)

This text struck me in a bizarre way. It's like a paraphrasing or summary of specific events here, related to a particular focus as viewed from a universe a few feet away from this one, slightly merged with it. I think the strange compelling nature of this text has something to do with the fact that it somehow summarized a series of related yet disparate phenomenon and put it into a concise and understandable context. More than simply an assemblage of the myriad soundbites we've all turned into so much ambient noise, there is a strange and resonant thread of continuity here that we can follow and appreciate. I think that's why we like it. It's like a good old fashioned story but it's Millienium Version.

Absolutely hilarious. I'm waiting for the Audible.com version (read by Ms. Bartiromo, no doubt) to download to my original edition 5GB iPod. Thanks for the laughs.

Wow! The last 10 years of my life flashed in front of my eyes. As a web page! Though I have never seen those idiot tech investors doing that thing... and now it`s in my brain. Ugh!

Proof that the greatest humor is reality viewed from one microstep to the left.

Very well done - nearly pissed myself silly reading it. Thanks!

I just spoke to a close friend on the inside at Cupertino that refused to comment on this story, but ensures that there is a new lifestyle device that is already filling warehouse space in Austin just waiting to be announced when Steve gets back on the saddle.

He wouldn't give the details, but I'm sure it involves Bluetooth and Tivo, and will make use of VoIP for .Mac subscribers. I can't wait.

On another note... Apple finally turned on the hidden wi-fi feature of the iPod in the wiPod software release - available exclusively for a limited time at http://bayareafreefi.com.

Finally!
