The Gold Spike is small, dark and smoky, but not particularly loud because nobody here can muster that kind of energy. The crowd is predominantly made up of sad, worn-down locals, with the occasional tourist staring in disbelief. Even though it's at most 100 yards from the end of the Fremont Street pavilion, I don't recommend walking there after dark. They don't use dollar chips for their meager few table games.
