A Little About Las Vegas Hilton
In the days before the mega-resorts took over, the Las Vegas Hilton was among the classiest places in Las Vegas. It was a favorite among big-name entertainers. Elvis played there frequently, and you can still stay in his favorite suite for the right price. With 3,174 rooms, the Hilton is a large hotel. The casino has 67,000 square feet of space and features table games, slots, video machines, and keno. Their sports book is still supposed to be among the best in the city.

Convention crowds are the Hilton's bread and butter due to its close proximity to the Las Vegas Convention Center. You won't find a lot of wild boozing or crazy action here. The table minimums are rigid and never drop below $5.

The biggest non-convention draw at the Hilton is The Star Trek Experience. The experience costs $25 (less a $10 discount if you have a AAA card!), and is comprised of a walking tour of the timeline of the Star Trek "universe" followed by an impressive motion-simulator ride. The walking tour is filled with costumes, props, images, and audio and video clips from the four TV series and however many movies they made. Fair warning: if you are prone to motion sickness or generally shouldn't be on amusement park rides (pregnant, heart condition, etc.) you should exit before the motion simulator ride begins. The ride exits into the Promenade, a sort of Trekkie-geek dream world with two gift shops, a Trek-themed bar and a futuristic-looking casino area. You can also enter the Promenade without paying to do the ride.
