With only 152 rooms, Royale has the smallest hotel of any casino on the Strip. Royale is geared toward the value-conscious visitor, with cheap-ish rooms, lots of cheap food and drinks that are essentially free after midnight (just get to know the cocktail waitress). In spite of the modest decor, Royale is usually packed until the wee hours of the morning with drunken revelers who take advantage of the casino's generous rules (Royale allows 100X free odds on its craps tables!) and abundant drinks. (The bar always has some sort of drink special going on.) Royale was the site of one of my favorite personal Vegas stories. I had just entered the mens room. As I was sitting my beer down on the sink and headed to the urinals, I heard some guy throwing up in one of the stalls. I heard the stall door open behind me and the sound of somebody stumbling to the sink. I heard the water running, then the water stopped, and then I heard the sound of a beer bottle being set down on the sink. The guy who had just finished throwing up had larried my beer!
